Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Three Asaro Mud Men, New Guinea, 1970 by Irving Penn was auctioned at Christies in New York in April last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 25,200.00 (€ 23,915.73) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Irving Penn achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Woman in Moroccan Palace (Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn), 1951 in November 2011 with an auction result of EUR 361,000.00.
