Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Jean Bazaine achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in February 2011. In the Looking Closely: A Private Collection auction, the work Le Ciel Et La Mer sold for GBP 67,250.00 (€ 79,214.87) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 25,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jean Bazaine; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Pierres, Arbres Et Plaine sold at auction in May 2008 with the realized price of EUR 105,850.00.

Dieses Kunstwerk von Jean Bazaine erzielte im Februar 2011 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Looking Closely: A Private Collection wurde die Arbeit Le Ciel Et La Mer für GBP 67.250,00 (€ 79.214,87) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 25.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Jean Bazaine; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Pierres, Arbres Et Plaine im Mai 2008 mit dem Hammerpreis von EUR 105.850,00.
