Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Altoon could be acquired at Bonhams in Los Angeles in September 2020 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Post-War & Contemporary Art X Made in California auction, the work Untitled (ABS-J-136), 1965-66 changed hands for USD 8,825.00 (€ 7,531.15) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Admittedly, works by John Altoon have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Trip No. 2 in November 2010 with an auction result of USD 80,500.00 (€ 61,752.07).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von John Altoon konnte im September 2020 bei Bonhams in Los Angeles für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art X Made in California wechselte die Arbeit Untitled (ABS-J-136), 1965-66 für USD 8.825,00 (€ 7.531,15) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Altoon auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Trip No. 2 im November 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 80.500,00 (€ 61.752,07).
