Upper estimate price exceeded by 88 %.
This artwork by Léon Spilliaert achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2020. In the Impressionist & Modern Art Day Sale auction, the work Rochers Blancs Le Long De La Meuse sold for GBP 37,500.00 (€ 41,828.39) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Léon Spilliaert achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Digue et plage, Chalet Royal et galeries d'Ostende in March last year with an auction result of EUR 504,000.00.
