Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2018 Christies in London held the auction Important Old Master Paintings from The Eric Albada Jelgersma Collection: Evening sale, which included the work Head of a man in profile composed of six female nudes by Louis Léopold Boilly. It changed hands for a price of GBP 68,750.00 (€ 76,593.60) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Louis Léopold Boilly achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The entrance to the Turkish Garden Café in January 2010 with an auction result of USD 4,562,500.00 (€ 3,289,473.68).
