Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2016 Christies in London held the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening Auction, which included the work Janus in Leather Jacket by Louise Bourgeois. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 250,000.00 – 35,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 290,500.00 (€ 348,694.80) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Louise Bourgeois achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Spider in May 2019 with an auction result of USD 32,055,000.00 (€ 28,751,457.53).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2016 führte Christies in London die Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Janus in Leather Jacket von Louise Bourgeois zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 250.000,00 – 35.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 290.500,00 (€ 348.694,80) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Louise Bourgeois erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Spider im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 32.055.000,00 (€ 28.751.457,53).
