This artwork by Lucian Freud achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May this year. In the Masterpieces from the S.I. Newhouse Collection auction, the work After Chardin (Large) sold for USD 3,801,000.00 (€ 3,567,674.11) - well above the upper estimate of USD 1,500,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lucian Freud achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Large Interior, W11 (after Watteau) in November last year with an auction result of USD 86,265,000.00 (€ 83,565,823.89).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Lucian Freud erzielte im Mai diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Masterpieces from the S.I. Newhouse Collection wurde die Arbeit After Chardin (Large) für USD 3.801.000,00 (€ 3.567.674,11) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 1.500.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lucian Freud erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Large Interior, W11 (after Watteau) im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 86.265.000,00 (€ 83.565.823,89).
