Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Lucian Freud could be acquired at Sothebys in London in October 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Contemporary Art Evening Auction auction, the work Strawberries changed hands for GBP 229,250.00 (€ 292,211.50) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 250,000.00 – 350,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Lucian Freud achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Large Interior, W11 (after Watteau) in November last year with an auction result of USD 86,265,000.00 (€ 83,565,823.89).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Lucian Freud konnte im Oktober 2008 bei Sothebys in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Contemporary Art Evening Auction wechselte die Arbeit Strawberries für GBP 229.250,00 (€ 292.211,50) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 250.000,00 – 350.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Lucian Freud erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Large Interior, W11 (after Watteau) im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 86.265.000,00 (€ 83.565.823,89).
