Auction result well in line with expectations

In October this year Christies in London held the auction A Century of Art: Photographs from The Gerald Fineberg Collection, which included the work Jean Cocteau, c. 1922 by Man Ray. It changed hands for a price of USD 17,640.00 (€ 16,691.90) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Man Ray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Violon d'Ingres, 1924 in May last year with an auction result of USD 12,412,500.00 (€ 11,566,955.55).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Im Oktober diesen Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion A Century of Art: Photographs from The Gerald Fineberg Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Jean Cocteau, c. 1922 von Man Ray zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 17.640,00 (€ 16.691,90) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Man Ray erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Le Violon d'Ingres, 1924 im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 12.412.500,00 (€ 11.566.955,55).
