This artwork by Man Ray achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in October 2017. In the Photographs Including Property from the Museum of Modern Art auction, the work La Prière, 1930 sold for USD 131,250.00 (€ 112,680.29) - well above the upper estimate of USD 70,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Man Ray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Violon d'Ingres, 1924 in May last year with an auction result of USD 12,412,500.00 (€ 11,566,955.55).
