The work Lee Miller, c. 1930 by Man Ray was sold in the A Century of Art: Photographs from The Gerald Fineberg Collection auction at Christies in London in October this year. The »bidding war« ended at USD 47,880.00 (€ 45,306.59), 60% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Man Ray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Violon d'Ingres, 1924 in May last year with an auction result of USD 12,412,500.00 (€ 11,566,955.55).

Die Arbeit Lee Miller, c. 1930 von Man Ray wurde im Oktober diesen Jahres in der Auktion A Century of Art: Photographs from The Gerald Fineberg Collection bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 47.880,00 (€ 45.306,59) und damit 60% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Man Ray erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Le Violon d'Ingres, 1924 im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 12.412.500,00 (€ 11.566.955,55).
