Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion 20th/21st Century: Amsterdam bei Christies in Amsterdam erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von EUR 12.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Markus Lüpertz auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Arrangement für eine Mütze I- dithyrambisch (Arrangement for a Cap I- dithyrambic) im Oktober 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 300.000,00 (€ 333.124,41).
