Auction result well in line with expectations
The work La Mer by Max Ernst was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 350,000.00 – 550,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 399,000.00 (€ 357,879.63) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Max Ernst achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le roi jouant avec la reine in November last year with an auction result of USD 24,435,000.00 (€ 23,670,444.64).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit La Mer von Max Ernst kam im Mai 2019 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 350.000,00 – 550.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 399.000,00 (€ 357.879,63) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Max Ernst erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Le roi jouant avec la reine im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 24.435.000,00 (€ 23.670.444,64).
