It achieved a price of GBP 200,000.00 (€ 234,948.48), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 33%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Max Ernst achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le roi jouant avec la reine in November last year with an auction result of USD 24,435,000.00 (€ 23,670,444.64).

Die Arbeit Le Hibou Et Sa Fille von Max Ernst kam im März 2021 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 200.000,00 (€ 234.948,48) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 33%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Max Ernst erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Le roi jouant avec la reine im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 24.435.000,00 (€ 23.670.444,64).
