Upper estimate price exceeded by 80 %.
This artwork by Milton Greene achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2005. In the THE HOUSE SALE auction, the work Marilyn Monroe holding a portrait of Abraham Lincoln, 1950s sold for USD 900.00 (€ 689.71) - well above the upper estimate of USD 500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Milton Greene achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Nelly Nyad (1952) in October 2000 with an auction result of USD 15,275.00 (€ 18,000.24).
