Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Yabai Yo! by Mr. was auctioned at Sothebys in Hong Kong in May 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - HKD 260,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at HKD 1,071,000.00 (€ 113,212.97). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mr. achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Exercising My Telekinetic Powers (Painted In 2012) in April this year with an auction result of HKD 4,560,000.00 (€ 4,656,652.17).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Yabai Yo! von Mr. im Mai 2021 bei Sothebys in Hong Kong versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – HKD 260.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit HKD 1.071.000,00 (€ 113.212,97) mehr als viermal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mr. erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Exercising My Telekinetic Powers (Painted In 2012) im April diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 4.560.000,00 (€ 4.656.652,17).
