Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Marine by Nicolas de Staël was auctioned at Phillips in London in June last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 1,700,000.00 – 2,200,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,293,000.00 (€ 1,502,098.19). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nicolas de Staël achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Parc des Princes (Les grands footballeurs) in October 2019 with an auction result of EUR 20,000,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Marine von Nicolas de Staël im Juni letzten Jahres bei Phillips in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.700.000,00 – 2.200.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.293.000,00 (€ 1.502.098,19) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Nicolas de Staël erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Parc des Princes (Les grands footballeurs) im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 20.000.000,00.
