Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Dompteuse by Otto Dix was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 225,000.00 (€ 192,802.06). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Otto Dix achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sitzender Akt Mit Blondem Haar (Seated Nude With Blond Hair) in June 2012 with an auction result of GBP 3,513,250.00 (€ 4,350,239.94).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Dompteuse von Otto Dix im Mai 2018 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 250.000,00 – 350.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 225.000,00 (€ 192.802,06) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Otto Dix erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Sitzender Akt Mit Blondem Haar (Seated Nude With Blond Hair) im Juni 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.513.250,00 (€ 4.350.239,94).
