Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Paul Delvaux achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Paris in October last year. In the Art Moderne auction, the work Étude pour "L’Escalier" sold for EUR 8,820.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 4,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paul Delvaux achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Miroir in February 2016 with an auction result of GBP 7,317,000.00 (€ 9,375,831.98).
