Auction result misses estimated price range
In May 2018 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrieux. La Comtesse (Opus no. 191) by Paul Signac for USD 13,812,500.00 (€ 11,835,904.03). This price was achieved in the auction The Collection of Peggy and David Rockefeller: 19th and 20th Century Art, Evening Sale at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 15,000,000.00 – 25,000,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Paul Signac - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Concarneau, calme du matin (Opus no. 219, larghetto), which sold at auction in November last year for USD 39,320,000.00 (€ 38,089,702.61).
