Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price

When the work Billy, the Giraffe, the Pelican and the Monkey lean out of The Grubber by Quentin Blake was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2018, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 1,800.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,708.39). Admittedly, works by Quentin Blake have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Grand High Witch in July 2018 with an auction result of GBP 35,000.00 (€ 39,242.70).

Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert

Als die Arbeit Billy, the Giraffe, the Pelican and the Monkey lean out of The Grubber von Quentin Blake im Juli 2018 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – GBP 1.800,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit GBP 6.875,00 (€ 7.708,39) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Quentin Blake auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Grand High Witch im Juli 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 35.000,00 (€ 39.242,70).
