These red faces reappear in the ‘Beautiful Thoughts’ series, produced in March 2020, of which Quentin wrote: 'I am very interested in the play of expression. I hope that if you are looking at these drawings you will respond to my invitation to imagine what each of them might be for you’.

This artwork by Quentin Blake achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2020. In the Quentin Blake: 200 Drawings auction, the work Red faces #1 sold for GBP 625.00 (€ 698.18) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 350.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Quentin Blake achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Grand High Witch in July 2018 with an auction result of GBP 35,000.00 (€ 39,242.70).

Oberer Schätzpreis um 79 % übertroffen

Dieses Kunstwerk von Quentin Blake erzielte im Dezember 2020 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Quentin Blake: 200 Drawings wurde die Arbeit Red faces #1 für GBP 625,00 (€ 698,18) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 350,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Quentin Blake erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Grand High Witch im Juli 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 35.000,00 (€ 39.242,70).
