Auction result misses estimated price range
In October this year a collector was able to acquire the work Francesco Clemente, 1985 by Robert Mapplethorpe for USD 7,560.00 (€ 7,153.67). This price was achieved in the auction A Century of Art: Photographs from The Gerald Fineberg Collection at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert Mapplethorpe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Self-Portrait in October 2017 with an auction result of GBP 548,750.00 (€ 625,682.41).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Oktober diesen Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Francesco Clemente, 1985 von Robert Mapplethorpe für USD 7.560,00 (€ 7.153,67) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion A Century of Art: Photographs from The Gerald Fineberg Collection bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Robert Mapplethorpe erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Self-Portrait im Oktober 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 548.750,00 (€ 625.682,41).
