The »bidding war« ended at USD 17,640.00 (€ 16,741.01), 47% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Sebastião Salgado have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 'Serra Pelada, Gold Mine, Brazil' in April 2021 with an auction result of USD 126,000.00 (€ 104,738.15).

Die Arbeit Greater Burhan Oil Field, Kuwait, 1991 von Sebastião Salgado wurde im April letzten Jahres in der Auktion Photographs bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 17.640,00 (€ 16.741,01) und damit 47% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Sebastião Salgado auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit 'Serra Pelada, Gold Mine, Brazil' im April 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 126.000,00 (€ 104.738,15).
