The work Crane by Quentin Blake was sold in the Making a MarkA Fundraising Sale for the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration auction at Bonhams in London in October this year. It achieved a price of GBP 1,664.00 (€ 1,910.73), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 39%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Quentin Blake achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Grand High Witch in July 2018 with an auction result of GBP 35,000.00 (€ 39,242.70).

Oberer Schätzpreis um 39 % übertroffen

Die Arbeit Crane von Quentin Blake wurde im Oktober diesen Jahres in der Auktion Making a MarkA Fundraising Sale for the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 1.664,00 (€ 1.910,73) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 39%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Quentin Blake erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Grand High Witch im Juli 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 35.000,00 (€ 39.242,70).
