Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2011 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture, which included the work Clouds On The Mountaintop by Thomas Cole. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 35,000.00 (€ 26,979.11) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Thomas Cole achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Catskill Mountain House in December 2003 with an auction result of USD 1,463,500.00 (€ 1,161,784.55).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2011 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Paintings, Drawings & Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Clouds On The Mountaintop von Thomas Cole zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 35.000,00 (€ 26.979,11) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Thomas Cole erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Catskill Mountain House im Dezember 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.463.500,00 (€ 1.161.784,55).
