Auction result misses estimated price range
In June 2021 a collector was able to acquire the work A Shady Promise by Wangechi Mutu for GBP 151,200.00 (€ 176,187.31). This price was achieved in the auction Modern & Contemporary Art Evening Sale at Sothebys in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 180,000.00 – 250,000.00 set by the auction house. Other works by Wangechi Mutu have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in February 2008 by the work A Little Thought for All Ya'll Who're Thinking of Beating Around the Bush at GBP 204,500.00 (€ 267,477.97).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Juni 2021 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit A Shady Promise von Wangechi Mutu für GBP 151.200,00 (€ 176.187,31) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Modern & Contemporary Art Evening Sale bei Sothebys in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 180.000,00 – 250.000,00. Andere Arbeiten von Wangechi Mutu wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Februar 2008 die Arbeit A Little Thought for All Ya'll Who're Thinking of Beating Around the Bush mit GBP 204.500,00 (€ 267.477,97).
