Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Masked And Shackled Man, C. 1950 by Weegee was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,500.00 (€ 3,005.07) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Weegee achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Weegee Portfolio in October 2019 with an auction result of USD 62,500.00 (€ 56,028.69).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Masked And Shackled Man, C. 1950 von Weegee kam im Oktober 2020 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 3.500,00 (€ 3.005,07) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Weegee erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Weegee Portfolio im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 62.500,00 (€ 56.028,69).
