Auction result misses estimated price range
In September 2007 a collector was able to acquire the work Esso Bayway Oil Refinery, 1931 by Wendell MacRae for USD 750.00 (€ 527.46). This price was achieved in the auction Photographs at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 800.00 – 1,200.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Wendell MacRae - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Rockefeller Center, c. 1930, which sold at auction in December 2011 for USD 1,500.00 (€ 1,156.25).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im September 2007 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Esso Bayway Oil Refinery, 1931 von Wendell MacRae für USD 750,00 (€ 527,46) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Photographs bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 800,00 – 1.200,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Wendell MacRae mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Rockefeller Center, c. 1930 beobachtet, die im Dezember 2011 für USD 1.500,00 (€ 1.156,25) versteigert wurde.
