The photographic series by Dawoud Bey and Carrie Mae Weems portray Black history and realities, speaking to the human condition. Both Bey and Weems have been skilled at this for decades: The two have been friends and colleagues for more than 40 years - known for their expressive photography and media art in which they address origins, representation, and systems of power.

Beginning April 4, the Getty Museum in Los Angeles will shed light on the unique trajectories of Bey and Weems with the exhibition Dawoud Bey & Carrie Mae Weems: In Dialogue. It sets their modes of representation, as well as their shared self-image and principles, in dialogue. The photographic works will be on view through July 9.Art.Salon
