With atmospheric paintings that invite calm and reflection, Chris Wehrmann looks behind the facades of the world that surrounds us every day. Engaging with a situation with full attention, discovering subtleties, recognizing the poetic: Wehrmann's paintings motivate us to look consciously, an ability that is in danger of being lost in our society. Nature often serves as the inspiration for his work and can also be found painted in interiors – the connection to the original is always there if you are prepared to perceive it. In his first solo exhibition in Düsseldorf, Wehrmann is showing a cross-section of recent years, including his latest series My Seasons, in which the artist expresses his personal view of the seasons. Many of the selected works can be seen in an exhibition for the first time. The vernissage for Chris Wehrmann: Universal Nature will take place on May 9 at 7 pm at HUNDERTNEUN in Düsseldorf, after which the show will run until June 7.

Chris Wehrmann, who lives in Kaarst near Düsseldorf, creates paintings as well as digital and analog collages. His work has been shown in numerous group and solo exhibitions in Germany and the Netherlands. Photography, artworks, theater, ballet and travel experiences also influence his work, in which he captures his own perspective on the universal and the complexity of life – and brings the hidden beauty to light.
