Art Basel Miami Beach is turning 20. The famous offshoot of Art Basel is outdoing itself for the occasion, offering a stage to 282 galleries in Florida this year. More than half of the galleries are based in North and South America, all the others travel from Africa, Asia and Europe. Among them are 26 newcomers who want to make a statement. Art Basel Miami Beach runs from 1 to 3 December, with previews on 29 and 30 November.
»It is truly exciting to celebrate our 20-year presence in Miami Beach«, says Marc Spiegler, Art Basel's Global Director until the end of October 2022. »Over the last two decades our show has not only reinforced its pivotal position in the region – uniquely bridging the art scenes of North and South Americas, Europe, and beyond – but also played a galvanising role in the city’s profound cultural transformation.«
Special attention will be paid to the Positions section, which presents young, emerging artists. Tonia Nneji (Rele Gallery), Leslie Martinez (And Now) and Ishi Glinsky (Chris Sharp Gallery), among others, will exhibit there this year.
