Larnaca & Limassol: »Apanage Days Cyprus 2025«

Art in two cities at once

From December 30 to 31, Cyprus will be transformed into a stage for contemporary digital art in public spaces as part of Apanage Days Cyprus 2025: Selected works, including two by Christoph Pauschenwein, will be presented on large LED and 3D billboards in Larnaca and Limassol.

It is a clear statement by Berlin's Apanage Gallery: art claims its place in modern society – visible, accessible and in direct exchange with the present. At Apanage Days Cyprus 2025, selected artistic positions will be shown on two extraordinary presentation surfaces: the largest LED billboard in Larnaca and the largest 3D billboard in Cyprus, located in Limassol. The project was made possible in collaboration with Treedia, a Cypriot billboard operator. The Apanage Gallery uses high-traffic urban locations to make digital art visible in a contemporary way and beyond traditional exhibition spaces. Through public presentation, art becomes accessible even to people with no connection to art and takes on greater significance in everyday life. For thousands of years, Cyprus has been considered a cultural hub between continents, myths, and trade routes. Now, as part of the Apanage Days on December 30 and 31, a bridge between the present and the future will be built. Limassol and Larnaca currently play a strong cultural role within Europe. Larnaca, for example, will be one of three European Capitals of Culture in 2030. Apanage deliberately positions itself within this dynamic and sees itself as a platform that strengthens artistic positions and makes them visible internationally.

One of the selected artists is Christoph Pauschenwein, who already participated in the Apanage Days in Berlin in August this year. The artist, who explicitly creates his digital works without the help of AI, presents two new video works from his Asteroid series, extensions of his digital universe. They explore the tension between light, darkness, and bodies in infinite space, as well as the relationship between organic structures and digital technologies. »My art is more than mere representation. It is an appeal to pause, to appreciate the beauty and imperfection in us and around us and to recognize the deeper connections that run through our lives«, Pauschenwein explains in his artist statement.
