Berlin galleries attract with numerous highlights

Gallery Weekend Berlin has become a leading art event in Germany. This year, the tour of Berlin's broad-based creative scene will take place for the 19th time. The opening is on April 28.

If you want to see the most important from the contemporary art scene in Germany, come to Berlin for Gallery Weekend. The city serves as an international art center, opening its doors this weekend and offering deep insights into the current art market. Around 50 galleries take part in the event and expect over 1000 national and international guests. The high sales figures of recent years confirm how in demand and the event is in the scene. This year, it will take place from April 28 to 30 and is also already generating anticipation for Berlin Art Week in September.

Highlights of the 19th edition include works by video artist Hito Steyerl at Galerie Esther Schipper and a group exhibition of ten Iranian women artists at Galerie Crone. Meanwhile, Galerie ChertLüdde will show Monia Ben Hamouda's filigree installations inspired by Arabic calligraphy. A special focus is on the paintings of Mexican artist Frieda Toranzo Jaeger, who drew attention in 2022 with a solo exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
