The exhibition Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams, which has been shown in London and Paris, among other places, celebrated its premiere at the Brooklyn Museum in New York on 10 September 2021. Many fashion lovers had already travelled to the opening to see the exhibition, which reflects the groundbreaking history and heritage of the House of Dior and brings to life Dior's many sources of inspiration. Until 20 February 2022, the exhibition showcases over two hundred haute couture garments, as well as photographs, archive videos, sketches, vintage perfume elements, accessories and works from the museum's collection, mainly from the Dior archives. In addition, the haute couture on display features many of the famous silhouettes of French fashion designer Christian Dior (1905-1957), including the »New Look« that debuted in 1947.
In addition to Dior, the museum's galleries will also feature his successors such as Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Bohan, Gianfranco Ferré, John Galliano, Raf Simons and Maria Grazia Chiuri. Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams is presented by Florence Müller, curator of the Denver Museum's Avenir Foundation for Textile Art and Fashion, in collaboration with Matthew Yokobosky, curator of fashion and material culture at the Brooklyn Museum.
