The sculptor, action artist and filmmaker Rebecca Horn (*1944) is one of the most important and versatile contemporary German artists internationally. A comprehensive exhibition of her works will open at the Bank Austria Kunstforum in Vienna on 28 September 2021. Until 23 January 2022, art lovers may witness Horn's first comprehensive exhibition of her work in Austria in almost 30 years. The focus will be on the medial interlinking between the various genres in Rebecca Horn's works, offering a comprehensive and revealing insight into her artistic practice.
Born in Michelstadt on 24 March 1944, Heidemarie Rebecca Horn began studying philosophy and art at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste in Hamburg in 1963. She became known to a wider public in 1972 when her works were exhibited at documenta 5, where she was the youngest participant. Her oeuvre is multifaceted and includes installations, performances, kinetic objects, poetic texts, film and drawing. In her art, she fuses reality and fiction as well as supposed dualities such as male-female. Horn lives and works both in Berlin and Paris.
As part of the InterNationalgalerie series, the Alte Nationalgalerie invites other institutions to exhibit in its own spaces. Kicking off the series on June 18 is the National Museum in Warsaw with the exhibition Inventing Myths.
Through June 27, Elvira Flamm is showcasing three works from her series Ikonen ohne Namen (Icons without Names) in the Made in Berlin Art Award 2026 exhibition. She was selected as one of 20 artists for the show at the BBA Gallery.
