From November 06, 2021, the Museum of Art Lucerne will show the first retrospective of the work of the painter Vivian Suter. Vivian Suter. Retrospective will present Suter's early drawings of the 1970s and painterly wall reliefs of the 1980s as well as her current airy installations of loose colorful canvases, of which a group of works will even be purchased for the collection of the Museum of Art Lucerne. Suter's photographic works, watercolors, and oil paintings on paper and canvas are largely about the nature that surrounds her and in which she paints as well - among them are motifs such as volcanoes and forests. In addition, weather plays an essential role in her work: as her canvases dry, leaves and soil settle on them, and wind, sun, and rain also leave their traces, so that Suter ends up painting more with nature than painting it herself. Suspended freely from the ceiling, Suter's works will be on display at the Museum of Art Lucerne until February 13, 2022, allowing visitors to walk through them.

Argentine-Swiss painter Vivian Suter was born in Buenos Aires on August 26, 1949, and moved with her family to Basel in 1962, where she attended the Kunstgewerbeschule from 1972. Since 1982, the artist has lived in Panajachel, Guatemala. Suter has been represented at many international exhibitions, including the 31st São Paulo Biennial (2014) and documenta 14 (2017). In 2021, she received the Swiss Meret Oppenheim Prize from the Federal Office of Culture.Art.Salon
