Aleksandra Eckes' paintings unfold a striking luminosity of colour. The full-surface chromatic landscapes arise intuitively, are successively developed by the artist and transfer both her sensory impressions of the surrounding world and her feelings and self-perception onto the canvas. Although the genesis is highly subjective and personal, Eckes seeks a pictorial language with a universal character. She formulates reflections of her inner world that are conveyed to the viewer not with the precision of an analytical language, but emotionally, on a deeper level and in the sphere of content that the beholder brings in themselves.

Despite the intense colourfulness, the Cologne-based artist refrains from using superficial effects, playing instead with the impact of reduction and subtle nuances. The informal character of her works allows them to be perceived unfiltered, without cognitive disintegration – and thus completely in line with their creative process. However, they also offer space for associations, the direction of which is suggested not least by the titles. If you follow them, the compositions address aspects such as hope, lightness, courage and depth – complexes that can be immediately found in the respective works and that quickly form the starting point for a whole series of analogies. In this way, Eckes' works provide an emotional impulse for a mental journey into the deeper spheres of one's own consciousness.
