Extensive presentation of the duo DRIFT at MK&G Hamburg

Five years of »Elphi« - performative art in the outdoor space.

On January 11, 2017, the Hamburg Elbphilharmonie was ceremoniously inaugurated. In the meantime, five years have passed and so the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe dedicates the exhibition DRIFT - Moments of Connection to the Hamburg landmark. Since January 7, works by the duo DRIFT will not only be on display in the museum itself, but also in the outdoor area of the »Elphi«.

The Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg turns five. The Hamburg Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe (MK&G) honors the half decade of »Elphi«, as the imposing building is also affectionately called, with the exhibition DRIFT - Moments of Connection. For this purpose, the MK&G has invited the artist duo DRIFT to stage their spectacular kinetic sculptures. Since January 7, visitors will be able to wander through all kinds of figurative replicas of flora and fauna on an area of around 350 square meters, making this the most comprehensive presentation of DRIFT to date. What all this has to do with the Elbe Philharmonic Hall will become clear as soon as visitors turn their attention to the exterior of the new landmark of the Hanseatic city: At the same time as the exhibition, a performative light artwork will be installed there, which is thematically closely linked to the field of art for which the Elbphilharmonie stands: music. The exhibition DRIFT - Moments of Connection will end on May 8, 2022.

The Dutch-English duo DRIFT consists of Lonneke Gordijn (1980) and Ralph Nauta (1978). The two teamed up in 2007 - since then they know how to cross the mysterious processes of nature with technical elements, making them visible again for humans. Their central theme is the human relationship with nature.Art.Salon
