When visiting the exhibition, one first encounters the sculpture Cocoon, which is positioned in a glass display case at the entrance to the gallery and introduces the world of forms of the artist Mathias Kadolph. In around 20 works, which provide an overview of his work over the last five years, a formal language unfolds that combines organic and architectural elements. Kadolph works primarily with wood, but he has also worked increasingly intensively on drawings and collages over the years. In them, formal elements and details of the sculptures can be found again; they are recomposed in a playful, experimental way and develop their own aesthetic. Kadolph continues to develop the formal language of his sculptures on paper using mixed media and adds to it. Since last year, the artist has expanded his work to include bronze casts, which are also part of the exhibition. Mathias Kadolph: Form and Space opens on May 15 at 1 pm in the Ostendorff Gallery on the occasion of the Prinzipal Klub Festival, which begins at the same time. The cultural festival takes place on Prinzipalmarkt in Münster, where the gallery is located.

The Hamburg-based artist Mathias Kadolph comes from Hanover, where he first studied architecture and then art. His sculptures, which often appear massive but turn out to be fragile bodies on closer inspection, are indicative of Kadolph's approach to architecture: they are characterized by spatial penetration and the interplay of light and shadow. Kadolph has shown his work at numerous solo and group exhibitions from Munich to Sylt. The current show at Galerie Ostendorff, with whom the artist has been working since 2016, is his second extensive exhibition there.Art.Salon
