»Nanne Meyer: überAll. Von Punkthelligkeiten und Turbulenzmustern« in Oldenburg

Horst Janssen Museum paves the way to Nanne Meyer's cosmic world of drawings

It is impossible to understand the universe in its entirety. But to look at the cosmos and question where one is located in the world, to come up against one's limits and to discover uncertainties, that is possible. This is precisely what the draftswoman Nanne Meyer has done, and so her approaches to the universe are presented in the exhibition Nanne Meyer: überAll. Von Punkthelligkeiten und Turbulenzmustern (Of Point Brightnesses and Turbulence Patterns) at the Horst Janssen Museum from 30 January - the solo show is entirely devoted to the diversity of the art of drawing.

Nanne Meyer (* 1953 Hamburg) knows how to stage the diversity of the art of drawing and not to let herself be limited by the supposed singularity of the medium. With her most recent works, which largely revolve around the universe, she opens a door to the cosmos - both to the real world and to her own personal cosmos of drawing. The Horst Janssen Museum in Oldenburg will pave the way through this door from 30 January with the exhibition Nanne Meyer: überAll. Von Punkthelligkeiten und Turbulenzmustern. Until 15 May 2022, interested visitors can enter Nanne Meyer's world of pencil, coloured pencil, wax and oil crayon, biros, acrylic, ink, pastel, gouache and emulsion paint.

The solo show presents Meyer's most recent works, almost all of which were created in the last two years. With titles such as Universum, Meteoriten, Ränder der Welt, Freier Fall, Sternenzelt and Quantenschaum, the museum juxtaposes the limits of the human with the limitlessness of the universe. Nanne Meyer let herself be guided in the creative process of the often large-format works by the central question »Where am I located (in the world)?«, and so visitors to überAll. can also answer this question for themselves.Art.Salon
