In honor of Karl Menzen
The sculptor Karl Menzen would have been 75 years old on April 11. All of the artists participating in this exhibition were friends of Karl Menzen: 35 artists are now paying tribute to the sculptor, who died in 2020 and would have turned 75 on April 11, with a special show. Karl Menzen | Ode to a Friend brings together artworks by Menzen with those of his friends in the idyllically situated Kunsthalle am Klostersee with its sculpture park. Margret Holz from the Art.Salon artist program is also taking part, showing her works Lightshadow and Palimpsest 01. With Lightshadow, for example, an object made of stainless steel deformed by heat, the artist explores the influences of light and shadows. The exhibition runs until June 15. Eckhart Haisch, the initiator of the Kunstort Lehnin project founded in 1991, spoke at the opening.
Margret Holz's artistic work is experimental and includes sculpture, installation, graphics and photography. She gives abstract ideas, conceptions and spatial concepts a form that is visible and perceptible to people. She works intuitively, guided by observation and experience. She has shown her works at numerous national and international solo and group exhibitions, and some of her sculptures can also be seen in public spaces, for example on the sculpture trail in Davos. In 1988, Holz opened the Hypothetical Museum+Archive, a project in which she presents site-specific temporary installations.
