Exhibition in Berlin

Interferences by Luise von Rohden

At the start of the Gallery Weekend Berlin, artnow Gallery is presenting a solo exhibition by Leipzig-based artist Luise von Rohden. In her subtle ink drawings, von Rohden develops complex systems from a simple movement repeated in ever-changing variations, creating works that are both tense and contemplative.

Luise von Rohden - Ink on paper

May traditionally begins in Berlin with the Gallery Weekend, when all galleries welcome visitors throughout the weekend, most of them opening new exhibitions and each trying to present itself to the international art scene from its best side with particularly noteworthy, fine, and, in the best case, downright extraordinary art. With our artnow Gallery we are no exception, and what can we say? ...we have succeeded. On May 2, artnow will celebrate the opening of the exhibition Interferenzen, a solo show by Luise von Rohden.

Born in 1990, von Rohden is a young artist who uses ink on paper to create tense systems from often simple, constantly recurring yet never identical movements. The individual lines converge, caress each other, shy away from contact by just a millimeter, separate again, diverge, only to immediately approach each other again, daring to connect, overlapping and merging into one another, blossoming together in a new shade of color—an eternal dance that seems to continue endlessly in the same sequence of steps and yet, without repeating itself even once, an almost perfectly executed figure in ever new variations.

We are delighted to be able to present Luise von Rohden's versatile and highly acclaimed work in a solo exhibition. You are cordially invited to the opening reception and, of course, to visit the exhibition during the subsequent art weekend:

Interview with Luise von Rohden

Luise von Rohden answers this question with a clear no, which is not really surprising, because her works are always reduced to a minimum. For her, the right balance between precision and irregularities is essential for a successful work, as she explains to us in conversation.
