It will be a posthumous project of the couple Christo and Jeanne-Claude: the wrapping of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. The installation is born out of a collaboration between the Centre des Monuments Nationaux and the Centre Pompidou and will be realized according to Christo's original plans. The spectacular work will be on view from September 18 to October 3, 2021. The Parisian landmark will be wrapped with 25,000 square meters of recyclable polypropylene fabric in silver blue, as well as 3,000 meters of red rope.

The artist couple's wrapping art represents a milestone in 20th century art history. The posthumous realization of the installation is the fulfillment of Christo's wish to continue to realize the work he had begun even after his death. Thus, L'Arc de Triomphe, Wrapped is one of the last typically temporary works of Christo Vladimirov Yavashev, who died only in 2020, and his wife Jeanne-Claude Denat de Guillebon, who already passed away in 2009, that will still be realized and shown according to original designs.

The project is financed exclusively by the sale of Christo's own sketches, designs and photomontages for the project, as well as original works from the 1950s and 60s.Art.Salon
