On 12 October 2021, a new solo exhibition of works by artist Terrell James, called Second Sight, opens at London's Cadogan Contemporary gallery. Inspired by the natural world and the artist's experiences of sacred sites in the western United States, Second Sight is intended to be an exploration of memory and place. In addition to the exhibition in London, another of Terrell's works, Terrain, will be on display at Cadogan Contemporary Hampshire. Strung on a roll that runs the length of the exhibition space, a drawing grows and develops as the viewer's eye is drawn first to the vastness of the installation and then to the dense arrangement of detail. Terrell's art will be on display at Cadogan Contemporary until 6 November 2021.

Born in the USA in 1955, Terrell James is a painter who primarily produces abstract paintings, prints and sculptures. She is known for her large-scale works with paint on stretched fabric as well as her small-scale works. Her works emerge from her careful observation of organic forms from nature, which she integrates into her work. She does this interpretively rather than pictorially, and yet these forms point directly to their origins in plants, animals, fossils and glaciers. To date, Terrell's work has been shown in over 50 solo exhibitions and is represented in various museum collections, including the Boston Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and the Whitney Museum of American Art. In 2013, she received the Design Award in Art from the Decorative Center of Houston, and three years later she was named Texas Artist of the Year by the Art League Houston.Art.Salon
