Minimalist music in combination with audiovisual installations: The Interpuls festival takes place in Oslo on February 21 and 22 with an extensive program. Musicians and ensembles will perform various pieces in the Kulturkirken Jakob (St. James Church of Culture), including Music for 18 Musicians by Steve Reich and Symphony No. 3 by Philip Glass. Artist Philipp Geist will contribute audiovisual live light performances that will transform the interior of the church into a living work of art. Geist designs his concepts in coordination with the music, but also leaves himself room for spontaneous ideas. During concerts, for example, he is inspired by the musicians' arm or finger movements to create unique, abstract light compositions that are characterized by a dynamic softness. Geist has already realized audiovisual installations in the Church of Culture twice before as part of other projects. The screenings of Geist's work will begin on February 21 at 7 pm and February 22 at 6 pm.

Philipp Geist works digitally and analog as an artist: in addition to his light installations, he works with photography, fine art prints and as a painter, exhibiting worldwide since 1996. Rhythms, color gradients, superimpositions and dynamic structures are central to his work, which finds expression in various media. Geist has been working regularly with Yellow Lounge, a project of the Deutsche Grammophon label, for over 20 years. Other light installations by him have been shown in Hamburg, Berlin, Moscow, Bangkok, Warsaw, Reykjavik, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Rio de Janeiro, Tehran and Shanghai. In 2013, the artist, who participates in the Art.Salon artist program, won the German Lighting Design Award in the »Light Art« category.
