The AXA Art Prize was first awarded in 2018 and has quickly become a coveted award for art students in New York. First place is awarded $10,000 and second place is awarded $5,000. Paintings, drawings and prints are eligible for nomination.
The jury consists of renowned curators, for example from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum. They select possible art stars of tomorrow from among the 38 finalists. The 2018 and 2019 winners, Monica Ikegwu and Anna Park, respectively, have already achieved initial exhibition success. Interested people from all over the world can also view the exhibition online.
