Lava flows, rivers, rugged mountains, and monumental ice sheets: in her paintings, artist Marianne Hopf depicts the dynamism and unimaginable power of nature. Her work does not operate within the conventions of representational and abstract painting, but is based unfiltered on her own visual experiences and impressions: Hopf's paintings are images of perceived, constantly changing landscapes. »My interest in landscape and nature applies both to physical and visual perception, such as weather conditions, temperature, lighting conditions [...], as well as to sensory perception, which borders on overload, precisely because of its energetic power«, says the artist, explaining the main theme of her oeuvre.

Marianne Hopf is presenting an overview of her work from 2014 to the present at the Kunstverein Offenburg. Her explorations of a wide variety of landscapes, such as the mountains of Iceland, the flatlands of northern Germany, and the Black Forest, can be seen in small and large formats. Some of the paintings are displayed on the floor, inviting viewers to bridge the distance to the work and embark on a journey into the painted world. The exhibition Marianne Hopf. The World in the Breath of Painting can be seen in Offenburg until March 27.

Marianne Hopf lives and works in Lahr/Black Forest and Berlin. She studied painting at the Freie Kunstschule Nürtingen and traveled to Iceland several times on scholarships. In addition to Abstract Expressionism, which she studied in depth during a stay in the USA, Emilio Vedova (1919-2006), whom the artist met personally in his studio in Venice, also had a lasting influence on her work. For many years, Hopf has been presenting her artworks nationally and internationally in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including several appearances at NordArt in Büdelsdorf.Art.Salon
