Frida Kahlo is an icon, one of the most popular painters in the world. A life full of pain and setbacks, her wearing of traditional costume, which was considered inappropriate, her artistic abilities and the two difficult marriages with the admired painter Diego Rivera: Kahlo's life and work, both marked by extraordinary physical as well as emotional pain, fascinate artists, art experts as well as interested audiences.

»Viva la Frida!« brings together for the first time two of the most comprehensive Kahlo collections in a unique show. Numerous of her symbolic portraits, without question the main motif of the artist, who was often confined to bed for several months after numerous operations, and other works are shown together with photographs and other objects from her life. Among them are clothes, jewelry as well as painted corsets that she had to wear since a devastating bus accident when she was 18 years old, and also her prosthetic leg. They come from the Blue House, Kahlo's birthplace and the current Frida Kahlo Museum.
