Jadé Fadojutimi was born in 1993 and is one of the youngsters in the art world: according to British Vogue, Fadojutimi's works are on the must-have list of art collectors worldwide. With her painting I Present Your Royal Highness, Fadojutimi is the youngest artist to have a work hanging in the Tate Gallery.
Until 2017, the British artist studied in London at the Slade School of Fine Art and the Royal College of Art. Her large-format paintings move between figuration and abstraction, they are colourful and wild. The colours seem to pulsate and are almost alive. It is personal experiences and emotions, positive and negative, that Fadojutimi processes in her paintings. Her titles give a clue to the origin of the paintings. The works are a mirror of her identity and the external influences that shape it. For the artist, her works thus have the status of a diary.
Fadojutimi is also inspired by pop cultural and (art) historical themes and objects such as Japanese anime, fashion or Victorian chairs. The artist has a special bond with Japan: After completing her bachelor's degree, she travelled to the country for the first time in 2015 and experienced a difficult phase of disorientation there. Since then, Fadojutimi has regularly returned to Japan to explore the reason for her continuing interest in the country. She also produces many sketches there that are influenced by Japanese culture and nature.
Recently, Fadojutimi began using acrylic paint and oil pastels in addition to oil paint. This gives her works a more graphic look. The artist likes to talk about her works, although she does not have an answer to all questions, as her painting process – besides her visual inspirations – is intuitive.

Zu Japan hat die Künstlerin eine besondere Bindung: Nach ihrem abgeschlossenen Bachelor bereiste sie 2015 das Land zum ersten Mal und erlebte dort eine schwierige Phase der Orientierungslosigkeit. Seitdem kehrt Fadojutimi regelmäßig nach Japan zurück, um die Ursache für ihr anhaltendes Interesse an dem Land zu ergründen. Auch fertigt sie dort viele Skizzen an, die von der japanischen Kultur und Natur beeinflusst sind.
Vor kurzem begann Fadojutimi neben Öl- auch Acrylfarbe und Ölkreide zu benutzen. Dadurch erhalten ihre Werke eine stärkere grafische Optik. Die Künstlerin spricht gerne über ihre Werke, wenngleich sie nicht auf alle Fragen eine Antwort hat, da ihr Malprozess – von ihren visuellen Inspirationen abgesehen – intuitiv ist.
